Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker Tournament Airs as Season II Gears Up

On May 22, 2007, as the deadline for the submission of casting for the Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker II nears, aspiring hopefuls of the game of poker can watch the first season of the Wild Card Poker I on ION Television next week.

Sponsored by Billionaire Businessman and Bodog Entertainment Head Calvin Ayre, Season 1 of the Wild Card Poker was a big success, matching top poker pros against amateur poker players and even with celebrities and wild card poker players.

The winner of the event will win a total of $500,000. Some of the competitors at the Wild Card Poker Season 1 are Chuck "Iceman" Liddell (UFC Champ), Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), "Boston" Rob Mariano (Survivor, Amazing Race), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie), and poker pros Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak, David Williams, Evelyn Ng, Josh Arieh, Michael Mizrachi, Humberto Brenes and Erick Lindgren.

Poker Pro Josh Arieh won the championship for Season I of the event, taking home $500,000 in total prizes. Starting on May 28, 2007, Season I of the Calvin Ayre Wild Card poker tournament will be shown daily at 10:00 p.m. EDT on ION, culminating in a 3 hour final poker special on June 2, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT).

Tournament Founder Calvin Ayre said that the Wild Card Poker Series is unlike any other tournament out there. With the success of the first season of the tournament, the officials of the show have upped the ante for Season 2 with 12 new contestants.

The participants will be picked from the audition tapes or poker challenges. The prize for the tournament is $2 million and is considered the biggest prize in any contest in TV Poker history.
