WPT Grand Prix de Paris and Betfair Masters of Europe Tournament Take Place in a Single Weekend

The week of May 11, 2007 was a hard week for poker fans and poker pros alike as the World Poker Tour's (WPT) Grand Prix de Paris and the Betfair Masters of Europe Tournament happened in Paris and London simultaneously.

After hard competition since May 6, 2007, the final table for the showdown of the game of poker has been decided for the Euro Grand Prix de Paris with a 10,000 euro buy-in cost, where 9 players tried their best to win the 422,560 euros for the first place finisher.

This year's event has been disrupted by the French authorities and confusing legal laws which made the World Poker Tournament remove the tournament from their Itinerary. The tournament will not be shown on television.

Despite the problems, the tournament still attracted much participation and was watched by a lot of spectators at the Aviation Club de France. Will Ma was the chip leader with 610,000 followed by Jeffrey Lisandro with 490,000 chips and Ram Vaswani with 413,000 chips.

The low man designated on the chip count is Jeff Wallace with 103,000 chips. Over in Britain, an impressive group of poker pros from the WSOP, the Aussie Millions, the WPT, the EPT and the Asian Poker Tour fought it out for the $300,000 top prize. The event was televised and observed by many spectators.
