Trees Poker Overview

Trees Poker is an interesting variation on Five Card Draw. Anywhere from three to eight players can play Trees Poker. What is fairly unique about Trees Poker is that players exchange their cards with any other player as they choose.

Trees Poker Rules

In Trees Poker, players ante up by placing a small, equal sum in the pot before the first deal. The dealer then passes out five cards to each player. Each player examines his or her own cards, and then the first round of betting begins.

In a round of betting, each player, beginning with the player to the left of the dealer, has several options. They may check if they have already matched the current bet level. If they wish to stay in the game, but they have not yet matched the current bet, they may call the bet by adding the required funds. They may raise the current bet. Or they may fold, relinquishing all claims to the pot.

After the betting is completed, players may exchange cards with each other. Players exchange by stating how many cards they wish to exchange. Any other player may exchange with them as long as it is the same number of cards. Trading continues until no trades can be made anymore.

This is followed by another round of betting and a showdown. The player with the best poker hand wins.
