Three Legged Race Poker is a draw poker game that is played with several rounds for each jackpot. Unlike most draw poker games, Three Legged Race uses three cards in a hand and is played as a high-low game. It is suitable for three to eight players.

Three Legged Race Poker Rules

Before the cards are dealt, each player must place an ante. The ante ensures that players have a stake in the game. After players ante up, the dealer gives each player three cards face down. This is followed by a round of betting, beginning with the player to the dealer’s left and moving around the table clockwise. In the round of betting, a player has three options. They may opt to stay in the round by meeting the current level of wager. This is called checking if they do not need to add more money to meet the current level. If they need to add more money, it is referred to as calling. They may opt to stay in and raise the current wager, forcing other players who wish to stay in to place additional funds in the pot. They may also fold, relinquishing any claim on the pot.

When the round of betting is complete, players may give none, some, or all of their cards back to the dealer. The dealer gives them the same number of cards back. This is followed by another round of betting. When betting is completed, there is a showdown. All players show their hands. Flushes and straights do not count. The player with the highest hand gets a point, referred to as a leg. The player with the lowest hand also gets a leg. The cards are shuffled, and another round begins. When one player has three legs, they win the pot.
