Super Eight Poker

Super Eight Poker Overview

Super Eight Poker is a simple variant of Texas Hold’em. Whereas in Texas Hold’em, players have seven cards with which to make their hand, in Super Eight Poker, players have eight cards. This is achieved by giving each player three hole cards. This is somewhat of a balance between Texas Hold’em and Omaha High, which gives players four hole cards. Unlike Omaha High, though, players can choose how many hole cards to use in their hand.

Super Eight Poker Rules

Super Eight Poker begins with the posting of blinds. The player to the left of the dealer posts the small blind, and the player to that player’s left posts the big blind, which is generally twice the small blind. In fixed limit games, the value of the big blind is the same as the lower betting unit.

After the blinds are placed, the players receive their three hole cards. After looking at the hole cards, the players are given the opportunity to bet. The betting begins with the player to the left of the big blind. Each player, in turn, is given the opportunity to call the current wager, raise it, or fold. When a player folds, they lose any stakes they have already wagered, and they are eliminated from the game. After all the players have either matched the highest value wager or folded, the first three community cards are dealt. This stage is referred to as the flop. After the flop, there is another round of betting. This round is initiated by the player who placed the big blind.

The fourth community card, called the turn is dealt when the betting is completed. After the turn, there is another round of betting. If the game is a fixed-limit game, then the round of betting after the turn is at the higher value. This means that each raise is twice the value of the raises in previous rounds. When this round of betting is complete, the fifth card, known as the river, is dealt. Following the river, there is another round of betting. When all wagers have been placed, those players remaining in the game compare their cards.

Players form a hand of five cards using any combination of hole and community cards, and the best poker hand wins the pot.
