Super Bid’Em

Super Bid’Em Overview

Super Bid’Em is a variant of Bid’Em which allows players to bid on all three cards in one bidding round. It is suitable for 3-8 players.

Super Bid’Em Rules

Players ante up, putting a small sum in the pot to get the game started. The dealer gives each player one card facedown, and then the bidding begins.

The dealer turns up the top card of the deck, and offers it to the player to his left. The player may either bid one chip on it, or turn it down and pay two chips for the top card on the deck. That card is dealt face-up if he chooses it. If he bids on the card then, moving clockwise around the table, every other player may choose to bid on it. The player who bids highest gets the card. The next card is turned over and offered to the player two left of the dealer. This goes on until every player has at least one card. Players who already have one card may continue bidding, taking up to three cards in total.

When every player has at least one card, the visible card is discarded. Then there is a betting round. Beginning with the player to the dealer’s left, players choose to stay in or fold. If they choose to stay in, they may pay the current bet, referred to as calling, or they may raise the current bet.

There is another bidding round, beginning with the player two to the dealer’s left, unless that player already holds three cards. If that player holds three upcards, then the bidding begins with the first player left of him who does not. When all players have two cards, there is another round of betting.

There is a final round of bidding, beginning with the player three left of the dealer or the first player left of him who holds only two cards. When all players hold three cards, there is another round of betting.

A fifth card is dealt to each player facedown. Players may pay four betting units to exchange one card in their hand for the next card in the deck. If the card was face-up, the new card is face-up. If they discarded a card that was facedown, the new card is dealt face down.

There is a final round of betting, and then the showdown. All players show their cards. The player who holds the best poker hand wins the pot.
