Seoul Next Stop of ATTP Event

The PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) will be held on from September 28th, 2007 to September 30th, 2007 at the Paradise Seoul Casino of the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The Asia Pacific Poker Tour event is a yearly international poker event held by PokerStars.

PokerStars is an online poker site based in the United States. PokerStars features Texas Holdem, Omaha, Stud, Razz, H.O.R.S.E. and seven card Stud. Jeffrey Haas, the president of APPT said that they have made this tournament so that players will have somewhere to practice their skills. He said that they have a good opportunity to promote Korea as a one-of-a kind tourist destination to poker players from all over the world who want to enjoy a good poker tournament.

Several top-class poker players like 2005 wsop Main Event champion joe hachem plan to participate in the event. The Texas Holdem variation of poker is very popular in North America. It has its own rules like in seven card stud, which is popular in Korea.

APPT allows poker enthusiast watching from their homes the chance to see the cards that players receive to see how the players use their cards in a particular situation. But the Seoul APPT tournament will not be broadcast because the Korean government considers poker as gambling so it is prohibited from being shown on television.

Texas Holdem is rapidly gaining recognition in Korea and some online poker sites already offer the game for Korean players. The APPT tournament started last month in Manila, the Philippines, with 255 participants from 35 countries from all over the winner. The champions from the Seoul and Manila events will participate at the Grand Finale in Sydney, Australia in December.
