Poker Regionals Held in Different Pubs in the UK

On March 13, 2007, after 3 months of gameplay, the regional finals for the second Poker Game in the Pub League has started. Aside from that, there were about 5 regional finals that were held in London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Lincoln and Exeter with a corresponding 5,000 pounds in total prizes.

Birmingham was chosen as the location for the West Midlands poker finals. There are about 100 poker players that joined the tournament and there was never a definite chip leader even from the start. But finally, Matt Greening from the Bull Inn defeated Sian Porter in the final game at the Deers Leap, winning the title.

Elsewhere, the Zephyr Bar, located in Exeter, was the venue for the regional finals of the South West. There were about 60 players that joined the event. The final showdown was between Stephen Salisbury from the Teignmouth Inn and Dan Hewlett from the Three Crowns Casino. Salisbury won the showdown as well as a balloon ride from the Virgin Balloons. Poker in the Pub was also played at the Pride of Lincoln Pub.

As play progressed, there were only 2 players left to dispute the title. Gary "Foot" Warren from the Easington Lane Working Mens Club finished 2nd to James "Monkey" Newton, who finished in 5th place previously at the National Tournament. The finals in London have begun as well.

The Tournament Pub was the venue for the London Regional Finals. There were 34 players who joined the tournament. Roger "Woody" Wood from the Crown Inn and Brian "The River" Walker disputed the title. In the end, Roger Wood won the title with his card pair of 7's.

Wood also won a place in the national finals and a year's supply of Odeon cinema tickets. Walker has a chance to win the trip to Las Vegas at the end of the 3rd league. Players from Scotland got the chance to join the tournament through the regional poker finals in Glasgow. Dave "Hat" Mitchell was the winner of the event.
