Poker Players favor Poker Law Change in Florida

On July 1, 2007, poker players will be able to wager all-in at casinos and card rooms in Florida because of the new law that went into effect regarding poker games.

The Naples, Fort Myers Greyhound has been anticipating the new poker law to go into effect and so have many residents in Southwest Florida who carefully and patiently waited in line that Sunday to play in a casino or card room.

Poker player, Josh Valcin, said that he hopes that he will make money while playing the game. Kath Fleck visited the Greyhound track to take advantage of the new poker law and said that she is very excited because she will now be able to enjoy the game to its fullest.

For some poker players, it is like possessing pocket aces because they now have a better set of rules in the game. Wagering limit across the state are now improved from $2 to $5 and poker tournaments have a higher buy-in cost.

In the game of poker, a price hike is good because the poker pros say that the less experienced players tend to throw away their money and luck. Fleck said that previously, it was like bingo poker because your luck was a very big factor but with the new law, the player's skill is taken into consideration.

The new poker laws are having immediate effects on the poker rooms in the state as well. The poker rooms were changed to include gaming tables with no limits, which are the biggest change since there are now gaming tables that will let players go all-in and have no restrictions on how much a player can wager.

The management and the players say that this is a good development for both sides. However, not everyone is happy with the new law. Some people feel that the state should consider taking a percentage of the additional profit and using it to help gambling addicts.
