"Lucky You" Poker Movie Released on DVD

On September 19th, 2007, the Hollywood Film "Lucky You", which is a poker playing film, was released on DVD. The film failed to earn big in the box office. The movie has been heavily criticized by movie critics.

Producers are undoubtedly trying to get some of their losses back after the movie failed to perform well in theaters. "Lucky You" debuted in 6th place during its opening day in May, earning $2.5 million after its initial release date had been repeatedly delayed.

It was finally given the shutdown by debuting together with blockbuster Spiderman 3. In fairness, "Lucky You" did not have the usual ingredients of a box office failure. The movie had a good director in Curtis Hanson, who has directed critically acclaimed movies like "L.A. Confidential", "Eight Mile" and "In Her Shoes". Hanson wrote the movie script with Eric Roth, who also wrote the script for "Forrest Gump" and "Munich".

The lovable Drew Barrymore played Billie, the leading lady of Huck Cheever, Eric Bana's character. Cheever is a top class but struggling poker player who has a personal issue with his father. Legendary poker player L.C. Cheever is played by Robert Duvall.

Some critics like Kyle Smith said that it is more interesting to play solitaire in his home than to watch "Lucky You". But Richard Roeper, the other half of the famous movie critic pair of Ebert and Roeper gave "Lucky You" a good review.

Roeper said that he spends as much time at the poker gaming tables as in the movie house. He is very happy that the movie was finally released after being postponed for a long time.
