Lisa Hamilton Wins the $1,000 Ladies World Championship

On June 9th, 2009, poker pro Lisa Hamilton's first live poker tournament turned into a dream come true. Thirty-seven year old Hamilton, who is a native of Hawaii, had never played in any kind of live poker event before the $1,000 Ladies World Championship, but Hamilton is leaving the Rio Hotel and Casino as a world series of poker bracelet champion.

Hamilton survived a field of 1,060 participants, coming away with the championship after a heads-up showdown with poker pro Lori Bender at an action filled final table. Hamilton said that she do not even actively participate in poker tournaments so that is why a lot of her fellow poker players are teasing her about her win. The long-time Las Vegas cash game pro added that she only decided to enter the Ladies World Championship at the last minute and she keeps telling her she is not playing in the championship.
