"Miami" John Cernuto

Miami John Cernuto is a poker player who specializes in Omaha hi-lo tournaments. The former air traffic controller is one of the coolest men in the business. With three World Series of Poker Bracelets to his credit he is one of the most respected.

After participating in the air traffic controllers strike and being fired, Cernuto turned to poker games. His great passion and discipline for the game has left him in it for 23 years.

Cernuto was up there making the final table of the 1989 WSOP seven card stud event as well as finishing in the money another five times. Eventually he captured the main prize when he claimed the 1996 WSOP $1,500 seven card stud split tournament. He followed that up with wins in the 1997 WSOP $2,000 No Limit Hold'Em event and 2002 $1,500 limit Omaha.

By virtue of his three bracelets, Cernuto was now named one of the biggest in poker.

He won the 2003 World Heads-Up Poker Championship in Vienna, a testament of his poker playing ability. He also made the final table at the 2005 Poker Stars WPT Caribbean Poker Adventure event.

Currently, his total tournament winnings are around $4 million.
