Have a Heart Poker

Have a Heart Overview

Have a Heart is a version of Seven Card Stud in which any player who receives a heart face-up may take any other face-up card from any other player and add it to his hand. It is played with 3-7 players.

Have a Heart Rules

To begin play, all the players place a small sum, known as the ante in the pot. Then the dealer gives each player two cards facedown, followed by one face-up. If any of the players received a heart as his upcard, then he may take the upcard of any other player. He does not give up any of his cards, and the other player does not get any replacement cards. When this has been completed, there is a round of betting.

Beginning with the player to the dealer’s left and going clockwise around the table, each player decides whether they wish to stay in by calling the current bet, raising the current bet to force other players to add more cash to the pot, or fold, quitting the game. When the betting round is completed, the next card is dealt.

Cards 4-6 are dealt one at a time, face-up. If any player receives a heart in these cards, he may take any one card that any other player has face-up. He does not have to give up any cards and the other player does not get any additional cards. There is a round of betting after each card is dealt and the hearts are handled.

Card number 7 is dealt facedown, and there is a final round of betting, followed by the showdown. Players show all of their cards, and the player who holds the best five card poker hand wins the pot.
