GSN Will Feature the 5th Season of the High Stakes Poker

On July 28th, 2008, Fox Sports announced that they have acquired the world poker tour and now there are reports that the GSN has renewed their contract with High Stakes Poker for another season. Although a lot of the important details for the new season have yet to be revealed to the public, the director for public relations of GSN, Jennifer Minezaki has confirmed that GSN has picked up the opportunity for a 5th season of the widely acclaimed program, which is hosted by both Gabe Kaplan and A.J. The renewal of the contract is astonishing considering rumors that the show will not be coming back for another season. Even A.J. Benza said that he thought that the show will not be renewed even with its popularity with the poker viewing public. There are rumors in various online poker forums that new season of the High Stakes Poker will feature Jerry Yang, daniel negreanu and Tuan Lam and will be held at the Wynn Las Vegas. Minezak has dismissed this information as mere rumors. High Stakes Poker has changed the usual concept of poker show when it debut in primetime television on January 2006.

Setting aside the usual poker tournament style, the show feature cash game poker that include big name poker events like Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, phil ivey and phil hellmuth, putting their bankrolls on the line. The previous season of the High Stakes Poker feature the $500,000 buy-in for several episodes.

The normal buy-in cost is $100,000. Patrik Antonius fought with Jamie Gold over a cash pot of $700,000. There is no specific date on when will the High Stakes Poker will air.
