The First Episode of the 2009 National Heads-up Championship at NBC

On April 12th, 2009, around sixty-four of the biggest names in the poker circuit converged at the 2009 National Heads-up Championship to fight it out for $500,000 in a March Madness-style heads-up gaming format. The first episode of the 2009 National Heads-up Championship will premiere on NBC at 12:00 p.m. The popular poker tournament took lace in March 2009 at Caesars Palace with poker pros Huck Seed and Vanessa Rousso distancing themselves from the rest of the pack in the title match.

Huck Seed showed off his vast heads-up experience as he edged out Vanessa Rousso into two straight games in the best-of-three games championship, winning $500,000 for his outstanding performance. With his outstanding win, he replaced chris ferguson as the most successful poker player in the National Heads-up Championship with a lifetime record of 18-4. The broadcast will show the first-round match ups from the event.

Notable matches include annie duke against Brad Garrett, daniel negreanu against chris moneymaker, Mike Sexton against phil hellmuth and Johnny Chan against Eli Elezra. To reach the finals of the event, Seed edge out Jonathan Little, gus hansen, Glen Chorny, david oppenheim and Sam Farha. Rousso had a tougher route as well as she edge out Doyle Brunson, phil ivey, Paul Wasicka, Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier.
