David Grey got his start at poker when he was at horse races and in between would pass time by playing Seven-Card Stud and soon became very skilled. His type of play is by-the-books and with great self-control, levelheaded game selection skills, and knowledge of all the games makes Grey an exceptional player.

He decided to move to Nevada from Long Island, New York to incorporate poker into his life more seriously. As he gained more and more experience, Grey ventured into different types of poker games and developed into quite the player and was considered one of the top young players to play at big tournaments.

Playing with celebrities like Larry Flynt and Celiene Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, Grey grew to be known as one of the world's best high-stakes cash-game players. David Grey has won two World Series of Poker bracelets one in the 1999 WSOP $2,500 Seven Card Stud event where he took home $199,000 and the other in the 2005 $5,000 No Limit 2 to 7 Draw Lowball leaving with $365,135. Grey has also had five final table appearances and finished in the money eight times at the WSOP.

Grey doesn't believe in traveling outside of Las Vegas in order to find poker games and poker tournaments. In an interview he said "I never plan my days around poker… If the weather is good, maybe I'll play some golf, or do something with my wife."

As of 2006, David Grey's current live tournament earnings are around $1.3 million.
