Consecutive Guts Poker

Consecutive Guts Poker Overview

Consecutive Guts is a guts game for 3-8 players. Unlike Basic Guts, in Consecutive Guts, players receive five cards and there are wild cards.

Consecutive Guts Poker Rules

To play Consecutive Guts Poker, players first put a small amount, known as the ante into the pot. The dealer gives each player five cards, face down. Players examine their hands and determine whether they wish to stay in or opt out. This is done simultaneously as knowing another player’s decision could affect a player’s decision.

This stage is called declaration and it is accomplished by players taking a coin or token and holding it under the table. Without anyone else seeing, the player chooses to put the coin in his right hand or not to put it in his right hand. Each player closes his hand into a fist, and brings it up above the table. Everyone opens his fist at the same time. If there is a coin in the fist, then they are in. An empty hand indicates that the player is out.

Players who are in turn their cards face up, and use three cards to make the best possible hand. There are no straights or flushes in Consecutive Guts, only high card, pair, and three-of-a-kind. One unique feature of Consecutive Guts is that if a player holds two consecutive cards, they can use them as one wild card.

The best hand wins the pot, and anyone else who stayed in must match the pot. Play continues using the same pot until only one player stays in and takes the remaining pot.
