The New Chairman of the Poker Players Alliance is Alfonse D'Amato

The main players that are edging each other for position have been letting themselves be interviewed by various media organizations. But last February 17th, 2007, the jockeying for the Chairmanship of the Poker Player's Alliance were already chosen.

The new chairman is former Senator from New York Alfonse D'Amato. The PPA has a lot of plans for this year like the exemption of poker from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which was signed last October 13th, 2006, which has angered the U.S. poker community. UIGEA's aim has totally banned U.S. residents from playing and wagering online. PPA is hopeful that D'mato will be able to do something and turn the situation around so that players will be able to continue playing poker if they are just in their own homes.

Michael Bolcerek, the president of the PPA in San Francisco has been continuously deluged with questions in the last two weeks about on whether it is true that the deal is already sealed. Bolcerek refused to comment directly on the matter.

Bolcerek said that D'Amato's election took place during a meeting that he did not personally attend but said that there is still no formally signed agreement but a lot of insiders in the poker industry said that it is already a done deal and many are hopeful that D'Amato will do a good job in his new post.
