Card Player Magazine Names Michael Mizrachi 2006 Player of The Year

One of the major contenders in the game of poker, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi has been named Card Player Magazine's 2006 Player of the Year. Mizrachi was given the title shortly after John Huang was eliminated from the $15,000 Doyle Brunson North American Poker Classic.

Huang was the only other contender to take Mizrachi's spot as player of the year, but only if he became champion at the DBANPC event. Mizrachi shortly followed Huang after being eliminated, placing 29th.

Since February, Mizrachi has been the strongest leading contender for Card Player's 2006 Player of the Year. Among his victories, Mizrachi placed second at the Gold Strike World Open, first at the Borgata Winter Poker Open and second at the $2,500 buy-in no-limit event at the L.A. Poker Classic. In the whole of 2006, Mizrachi made 10 final tables, won 7 tournaments, and had 31 cash ins for a total of $2,356,970.
