Breed the Heifer Poker

Breed the Heifer Poker Overview

Breed the Heifer, also known as Dirty Shultz, is a variant of Seven Card Stud very similar to Follow the Queen Poker, except that instead of wild cards following queens, they follow pairs showing in a player’s up cards. Breed the Heifer is suitable for 3-7 players.

Breed the Heifer Poker Rules

To begin play, each player places a small sum known as the ante in the pot. Then the dealer gives each player two cards facedown, followed by another card face-up. Beginning with the player to the dealer’s left and moving clockwise around the table, there is a round of betting. Each player decides whether to call, raise, or fold. To call, a player matches the current bet. To raise, a player adds more than the current bet to the pot, forcing other players to match the new bet in order to stay in. Folding- means that, the player quits playing at this point, and does not have to pay any more money.

When the betting round is over, the fourth card is dealt, face-up. If any player has two matching cards face-up, then the next card dealt (to the next player) and all cards of its rank are now wild. If it happens more than once, only the last one is wild.

There is a round of betting, and then the fifth card is dealt. The same rules apply for pairs. If any player shows a pair, the card following it and all other cards of its rank are wild, but only the last one count. There is a round of betting, and the sixth card is dealt. The same rules apply. There is a round of betting.

The seventh card is dealt facedown, and is followed by a round of betting and the showdown. Bearing in mind which cards, if any, are wild, the player who can form the best five card poker hand wins the pot.
