Bid ‘Em Poker

Bid ‘Em Poker Overview

Bid ‘Em is a complex stud game with no wild cards, several auction rounds, and a five card hand. Bid ‘Em can be played by 3-8 players.

Bid ‘Em Poker Rules

Before the game, players determine the values of the bids. Each player antes up, placing a small sum of money in the pot. The dealer gives each player a single card, facedown.

Then the dealer begins an auction. Beginning with the player to the dealer’s left, the dealer flips over one card and offers it to the player. That player can either offer a single chip for the visible card or two chips for the top card on the deck. However, if he chooses the visible card, any other player may bid higher, going clockwise around the table. The player who bids highest gets the card, and another card is flipped up which the first player to the dealer’s left who has not gotten a card can now bid on.

When all of the players have received one card in this manner, if there is a card showing, it is discarded, and then there is a betting round. Beginning with the player to the dealer’s left and moving clockwise, each player decides whether to call, matching the current bet, raise, adding more money to the pot and forcing opponents to match the new sum, or fold, quitting the game.

There are another two auction rounds, each followed by a betting round. The second auction round begins with the player two left from the dealer, while the third auction round begins with the player three left from the dealer.

A fifth card is dealt to each player, facedown. Then each player may choose to exchange any card for the next one at the top of the deck for four chips. If the card that was exchanged was facedown, the new card is dealt facedown, and if the previous card was face-up, the new card is dealt face-up.

There is a final betting round, followed by the showdown. All players show their cards, and the player with the best poker hand wins the pot.
