WPT Transfer to Fox Sports Network From GSN

On July 16th, 2008, the world poker tour Enterprises announced that it finalized an agreement with Fox Sports Network to show the 7th season of the World Poker Tour. Details like how much Fox Sports paid for the rights to show the WPT, the time slot or the premiere date of the WPT broadcast has not been announced yet and will be released at a specific date.

George Greenberg, the FSN Executive Vice President of Programming and Production said that the WPT has a good record as one of the leading brands in televised poker. They are proud to work with the World Poker Tour and are looking forward on showing the WPT events in FSN. This will be the 3rd network home for the World Poker Tour. The Travel Channel ended their partnership with the World Poker Tour Enterprise after 5 seasons.

WPTE transferred to GSN but upper management decided to cut gaming-themed shows. The National Cable and Telecommunications Association said that FSN has regional networks in sixteen major league sport cities and its affiliated networks reached around eighty million homes in the United States. GSN reaches around 66 million homes while The Travel Channel reaches around 84.4 million homes. The World Poker will continue to be shown on GSN until the end of this year.
