The United States Poker Championship at the Trump Taj Mahal

The United States Poker Championship (USPC) is coming back to the spotlight thanks to a brand new high profile TV agreement. The $5,000 main event, which takes place at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, will be shown on the Spike network thanks to a deal with Las Vegas-based production organization Compass Entertainment LLC.

Tom Gitto, director of poker operations at the Taj Mahal, said that it is very exciting to have the United States Poker Championship (USPC) back on national television.

Gitto said that they knew that in order to ensure that the USPC would be more attractive and exciting poker players they would need a good television agreement. Compass Entertainment was responsible for covering the poker movie Deal with Shannon Elizabeth and Burt Reynolds along with reality television show Rounder Life.

A Compass Entertainment spokesman said that they are very happy to be partnered with Trump Entertainment and they look forward to producing a fantastic production. The USPC will run November 2nd, 2009-November 24th, 2009 with a total of twenty-four poker events on the line-up. The poker series will culminate with the $5,000 main, which starts on November 20th, 2009.

Gitto said that the Trump organization is committed to creating something one-of-a kind each year to make the United States Poker Championship interesting so this year they have added the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship poker event, which will be shown as well. Since its start in 1996, the USPC has been frequented by well-known poker pros like phil hellmuth, daniel negreanu, John Juanda, phil ivey and others.
