On September 26th, 2007, The Trump Taj Mahal Casino is the first and only casino in the United States to allow players to register for well-known and in demand poker tournaments on the Internet. The Trump casino utilizes "PT seats".
Inventor Fabricio Schaffrath from Miami calls the seats "the Ticketmaster for poker events". Players can just log-in at ptseats.com, choose the poker tournament that they want to enter and reserve a seat with the use of their credit card.
There is a convenience cost from three percent to 6 percent of the buy-in cost for the tournament. About 100 Atlantic City poker players have registered for the poker service. Schaffrath commented that he conceptualize with the idea while participating in Tuesday night poker events at a casino facility in Florida.
Schaffrath said that in order to get in, players must be there at least 1 ½ hour in advance. Schaffrath, a manager of a graphic design studio, had to leave work early to pay the cost for his seat in the event or request his friends to register him. He added that the other casinos in Atlantic City are also interested in the service and he is hoping the casinos in Las Vegas will also use the service.
