Tony Parker Signs With Online Poker Site BetClic

NBA superstar Tony Parker has closed a deal to represent online French poker site BetClic. Parker said on February 25th, 2010 that he is looking forward about what will the partnership with BetClic will bring. He added that he is very happy to have the chance to contribute to its growth in the coming years.

Three-time NBA champion Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spur was born in Bruges, Belgium to a Dutch mother and an American father but grow up in France. He started his professional basketball career in Paris and played with the French national basketball team before joining the San Antonio Spurs in 2001. The twenty-seven year-old point guard won the 2007 NBA Finals MVP award and married Hollywood superstar Eva Longoria in the same year.

Parker and Longoria have participated in several high-profile charity poker tournaments over the past few years and Parker has proven to be a good player so the move to BetClic is a natural one. Started by Nicolas Beraud in 2005, BetClic has slowly risen to promince in the online gambling market in Europe over the past few years.

After signing former Team PokerStars member isabelle mercier last year, BetClic has made a considerable push into the growing European online poker market by acquiring both the Everest and Expekt Poker brands. Now, the group is hoping that having a well-known star like Tony Parker as an ambassador for BetClic will help them expand in France, where a brand new legislation is expected to open the poker market.
