Sequence Poker

Sequence Overview

Sequence is played basically like Seven Card Stud, with the exception of the fact that there can be wild cards and they can change in the course of the game. Like Seven Card Stud, Sequence is suitable for 3-7 players.

Sequence Rules

Before the initial deal, each player places a small sum of money in the pot. This is known as the ante. Then the dealer gives each player two cards facedown followed by one card face-up.

There is a round of betting. Beginning with the player to the dealer’s left, and moving clockwise, players can choose to call the current bet, raise the current bet to a higher sum, or fold, putting no more money in the pot and quitting the game.

A second up card is dealt to each player, followed by a round of betting.

A third up card is dealt, followed by a round of betting.

The fourth up card, which is the sixth card, is dealt, followed by a round of betting.

If any of the up cards is a two, then twos become wild. However, if after the two was dealt, a three is dealt, threes become wild and twos are no longer wild. If a four is dealt after the three, fours become wild, and threes are no longer wild. And so on. If no two is dealt as an up card, then there are no wild cards.

The seventh and final card is dealt face down. There is a round of betting followed by the showdown. Players show all their cards. The player who can form the best five card poker hand, bearing in mind any wild cards, wins the pot.
