Richard Brodie - The "Quite Lion"

Back

Richard Brodie maybe better known for his work at Microsoft but he is an excellent poker player. After being one of the first employees at Microsoft Brodie moved into the world of poker, to prove himself in yet another stance.

Playing at home with Bill Gates and other friends, he only began to take it seriously in 2003 when he saw his friend Andy Bloch do quite well at the game and make two World Poker Tour final tables.

This inspired Brodie to take up poker full time and devote all his energies to it. After not too long, he finished an impressive second in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event at the Festa al Lago.

After this auspicious start, Brodie went from strength to strength. The author of two books, Virus of the Mind: The New Science of the Meme, and Getting Past OK: A Straightforward Guide To Having a Fantastic Life! You can also find his blog called Lion Tales, which is all about his exploits as a poker player with a focus on the bigger tournaments.

You can find "Quite Lion" playing online poker at Full Tilt Poker. As of 2006, his current standings earned him about $180,000.

Brodie is known for his ability to relax and enjoy himself during tournaments as well as his fun demeanor because "after all," he says "it's a game." (FullTiltPoker.com)
