Police Raid a Popular Poker Club in Scotland, UK.

The popular Cincinatti's Poker Club was raided at Wednesday night by the police. Scotland's first poker club has been closed after the raid. Cincinatti's official won't give any response with regard to this incident. However, rumors and speculation on the nature of the raid and, perhaps more importantly, who instigated it are circulating around Internet poker forums and card rooms across Europe.

No official statement has been made, many player thought this was a joke. The raid by police and gaming officials seemingly came out of the blue for the club management In the middle of a tournament the raid was made on Wednesday evening as described by one Cincinatti's regular on The Hendon Mob forum: "35 uniformed police officers storm into club, 10 plain clothes CID, 2 senior police officers and 4 gaming officials. They siezed all the cards, chips, took everyones name and address and started interviewing everyone."

A number of people have been interviewed in connection with this operation. No person has been charged with any offense at this time and inquiries are ongoing. Various poker paraphernalia were confiscated along with gaming machines and other equipment in connection with alleged offences committed under the Gaming Act. Despite the raid, police have said the club is free to continue operations.

Later on Thursday evening Dave Colclough acknowledged there had been a problem at Cincinatti's, yet declined to expand on the full state of affairs via his Blonde Poker forum. Colclough did state it was "business as usual" at the club.

Cincinatti's Poker Club was established a reputation as one of the premier places to play in Scotland. Fronted by popular UK player Dave "El Blondie" Colclough, the club has quickly grown into a large poker venue, hosting many tournaments and cash games. The Cincinnati Club in Glasgow, which opened last year, is at the centre of an investigation into illegal gambling. The Cincinatti Club is located in Bridge Street in the south side of the city.
