PokerStars Sponsors $10 Re-Buy Poker Tournament for Kent Senter

PokerStars offered a special event to benefit Kent Senter, who is suffering from Multiple Myelome Cancer, on September 12th, 2009. Poker enthusiasts might remember Kent Senter as an inspirational story on the world series of poker Main Event this year as Senter made it all the way to Day Two before finally busting out from the game.

PokerStars actually sponsored the trip of the whole Senter Family to the WSOP Main Event so that they could cheer for Kent Senter as he tried to challenge the odds. The entire Senter family was featured in different television segments on the ESPN Main Event broadcast where they discussed about his illness and his dream of participating in poker events.

PokerStars tried to give back a little more to the Senter family by offering the special $10 re-buy poker event with the overall proceeds going to the treatment of Kent Senter. Kent's wife, Patty Senter, said that she is very thankful for the support of the poker community. Kent was diagnosed with Multiple Myelome Cancer in 2007 and he has been fighting the disease ever since.

Although Kent missed the money at the 2009 WSOP Main Event, he did generate a lot of media buzz as USA Today, the Associated Press and the Pittsburgh media all did stores on his remarkable journey. 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion and Team PokerStars Pro chris moneymaker stated that he is inspired by Kent's story.
