Leonardo DiCaprio to Star in a New Poker Film

On June 13th, 2009, the writers behind the most successful poker movie of all time are going back into poker territory-and they are bringing along international Hollywood film icon Leonardo DiCaprio. Paramount Pictures has reportedly picked up an as-yet-untitled movie about the world of online casinos based in Costa Rica from movie writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the team who made the infamous Matt Damon/Edward Norton movie, Rounders.

The handsome DiCaprio has also reportedly signed on to star in the movie project, and given his string of astounding success, it could mean that the poker film will quickly move from pre-production planning into an actual production.

Koppelman and Levien most recently penned Steve Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience and were responsible for the gaming themed film Ocean's Thirteen- perhaps showing a taste for gunfights and gaming scenes, which is sure to make devoted poker fans all over the world scream with delight.

No exact release date has been set for the poker film. For the meantime DiCaprio will next appear on the big screen in a new film directed by Martin Scorsese, Shutter Island.
