On September 10th, 2008, the exposure that the television gives to poker events and in other media across the country has resulted in the improving popularity of online poker and a lot of new poker players are drawn into the game, as well as players that are already familiar with the game finds themselves playing it frequently. Among the groups that are sending these players into land-based and online casinos, women have become a growing poker playing demographic.

As female players became more well-known, groups like Lauren Failla's High Heels Poker Tour have helped encouraged their participation and growth and helped their transition from online play to live play. Part of Lauren's mission is to expose female players to the game and attract new female players to poker tables across the country. But Lauren is not just content to attract players to poker rooms. She already has a lot of female poker players whose skills are at the expert level and the next part of their goal is to help these female players improved their game, studying different strategies and techniques that will help these female poker players take their game to the next level.

To meet that goal, Lauren is making the Women's Ultimate Poker Academy; a school designed to help female poker enthusiasts to learn the basics of the game as well as improved the skills of players. Lauren will launched the Academy's opening with a free seminar at Harrah's New Orleans on December 6th, 2008, the day before the High Heels New Orleans event at the same location. The seminar will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon and the main speaker will be Barbara Enright, the editor-in-chief of Woman Poker Player magazine and the only female poker player to reach the final table of the 1995 world series of poker Main Event in 1995.

Enright holds three World Series of Poker bracelets and is the only female poker player to have won a World Series of Poker open event and in 2007, the first female poker player to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Upon her return to state of Florida, Lauren plans to start her Academy the following year. The location is tentatively set for the Hard Rock Seminole Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Lauren has already twelve top poker pros that will teach in the school and is looking for more teachers this fall.
