Kings and Little Ones Stud Poker

Kings and Little Ones Stud Overview

Kings and Little Ones Stud Poker is a basic variant of Seven Card Stud, with differences regarding wild cards. There is a similar version of draw poker, but the two should not be confused. Like Seven Card Stud, Kings and Little Ones Stud is suitable for 3-7 players.

Kings and Little Ones Stud Rules

To begin to play, players place the ante, a small starter sum, in the pot. The dealer distributes two cards face down to each player, followed by one face up. The first round of betting begins with the player sitting to the dealer’s left. Players must call the current bet or raise in order to stay in. In most settings, the first player to bet must bet something, so there is no option of checking (staying in without having to pay). If a player does not wish to risk more money, they may fold, and they no longer put any money in, receive cards, or have any stake in the game until the next game is dealt.

When the betting is completed, the dealer gives each player the fourth, fifth, and sixth cards face up. Each card is followed by a round of betting.

After that round of betting, the seventh card is dealt, face down. This is followed by a final round of betting and the showdown. Players use five cards from their hand to form the best possible hand. The lowest card that is facedown in each player’s hand is wild, as are any kings. If the player has two of the lowest card, both are wild. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot.
