Johnny Chan Poker Tournament at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) will be launching the first Johnny Chan Poker Classic from May 6-13, 2007. The tournament is expected to attract around 2,300 players. With a total of $2.8 million money pool, the poker tournament is expected to be the largest ever in the British Columbia area.

With 2 time World Series of Poker Champion, Johnny Chan at the helm, the poker tournament will have 5 events, with the main poker event featuring a top prize of $312,500 based on the attendance of the event. Celebrity poker players, like Brad "Yukon" Booth and Gavin Smith will also participate in the event.

Chan, who was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame back in 2002, said that he is proud to host the first ever poker tournament in his name and he is sure that all of the participants in the tournament will have a great time. The Johnny Chan Poker Classic will be held at the River Rock Casino in Richmond.

The events will include a No Limit Texas Hold'em, Short Handed No Limit Texas Hold'em, Pot Limit Hold'em and the Pot Limit Omaha. The buy-in events at the poker tournament cost from $500 up to $2,500. Players that finish in the top 10% will receive a substantial amount of money.

The Vice President of Casino Gaming commented that Johnny Chan is considered one of the best and most outstanding poker players in the world and they are pleased that Johnny Chan chose them to be his partner for the event.
