Harrah's to Launch World Series of Poker Event in Europe

On February 26, 2007, well-known gambling operator, Harrah's Entertainment announced that they will be launching the first ever World Series of Poker in Europe with a 10 day, 3 event poker tournament starting in September at the London Club's International Casino, which Harrah's Entertainment has just recently acquired.

The poker tournament will take place after the 38th World Series of Poker, which will be held in June and July in Rio. World Series of Poker Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said that this move is an expansion of their well-known World Series of Poker brand and is formatted for European players.

The World Series of Poker Europe will be held from September 6-16 at the London Club's British Casinos, which is at the Fifty, Leicester Square and at the Sportsman. The final event is a no limit Texas Hold'em poker game with a buy-in cost of about $19,600, and will start on September 10, 2007. This event will run for 6 days at the Leicester Square Casino facility.

The buy-in cost will be twice the $10,000 buy-in cost at the Poker World Championship Tournament. The WSOP is currently managing about 11 tournaments that take place throughout the year in all of Harrah's owned casinos across the United States.
