The Dream Team Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino

On May 21st, 2009, with two highly successful poker events under its belt, Dream Team Poker is hosting a 3rd tournament during the 2009 world series of poker. Jeffrey Pollack, the World Series of Poker commissioner said that after seeing the overwhelming response to the Dream Team Poker events in Las Vegas, they thought that a team-based tournament would be a good addition to the end of the 2009 WSOP. He added that it would make WSOP even more interesting for participants.

Although it is not considered as a bracelet tournament, the Dream Team event will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on July 12th, 2009-July 13th, 2009. It has a $560 buy-in cost per player or $1,680 per group. The first three hundred teams to pre-register on DreamTeamPoker.com will receive custom made jersey for the event. While relatively new in the poker circuit, Dream Team Poker has found quick success with its tournaments in Las Vegas. It hosted its inaugural tournament in November 2008 and followed that up with a highly successful tournament in March 2009.

The inaugural tournament was by invitation only and sold out within weeks. Poker pros Justin Bonomo, Eric Morris and Matthew Parvis made up a three-man team that won the first tournament while Jason Lilly of Team Flop was the individual champion. The 2nd tournament was open to the public and saw 148 teams fill the poker room of Caesars Palace. Team Aced, led by 2006 WSOP Main Event champion Jamie Gold, won the Caesars Event. Danny Nelson from Team Bikerhaven.net was the individual champion.

Dream Team Poker has a patent-pending group-based event structure. Not only are players playing for an individual cash prize, they are playing for points for their own team. Dream Team Gaming CEO Daniel Delshad said that the World Series of Poker and the Rio Casino have really shown their firm commitment to the participants in continuing to change the event. He added that bringing their well-known brand to the Rio Casino during the World Series of Poker is a good way to introduce Dream Team Poker all over the world.
