Berry Johnston - "Numbers"

Seventy-one year old Berry Johnston AKA "Numbers" is a professional poker player with five World Series of Poker bracelets.

Coming from Bethany, Oklahoma, Johnston started playing poker in 1970. His big break came in the mid 1980's when he came in third at the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em World Championship of the World Series of Poker 1982. Then in 1983 he earned his first WSOP bracelet through the $2,500 Match Play event.

Two years later, Johnston made third at the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em World Championship and fourth at the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha events. In the WSOP 1986 he proved victorious once again at the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em World Championship leaving with $570,000 and another bracelet.

His third and fourth bracelets came in the 1990 WSOP $2,500 Limit Hold'em event and 1995 $1,500 Omaha Limit event. His latest bracelet came from the 2001 $1,500 Razz event.

Berry Johnston has cashed in more WSOP events than any other player and has had at least 30 WSOP final table finishes. In 2004 he was the new inductee in the Poker Hall of Fame. At the ceremony Doyle Brunson was quoted saying that "What I admire most about Berry is not Berry the great poker player, but Berry the man. He is a deeply religious and devoted family man, who has always been a gentleman at all times."

His favorite poker game is Pot Limit Omaha and his current live tournament earnings are around $2.8 million.
